โConsistency is what transforms average into excellentโ. This quote emanates the effort WAG has been putting in to mitigate GBV in many communities in the grass field and beyond. So far, these efforts are yielding positive results, letโs have a glimpse of what went down last week in one of WAGโs project areas.
On the 01/08/2024 WAG staff were at Munfou Quarter meeting Bamessing for awareness raising on topical issues around GBV such as GBV types and forms, consequences and prevention with 182 community members in attendance. Still on that day, the team visited the Ngwalang community hall in Bamessing for an awareness raising on the same topics as before and in attendance was 226 quarter members who all expressed gratitude for the knowledge shared.
The next day, staff did awareness raising on the various forms of GBV and the availability of a safe space in Bamunka at โโHelping you Help yourselfโ โnjangiโ group Bamali in the presence of 44 meeting members.
Later on, that same day, the team took advantage of the CWF and CMF Workshop- Leadership course closing evaluation and did awareness raising on the availability, functions and importance of the safe space in Bamunka at PCC Ndop Presbytery Bamunka where they sensitized over 372 Christians.
On the last day WAG staff spent in Ngoketunjia, they carried out mobile safe space activities where they identified some GBV cases did MHPSS conseling and opened up case management files for some of them. This outreach was possible due to WAGโs partnership with UNFPA Cameroon and with support from United Nations CERF and the Canadian Government. WAG is gearing up to take on the next community as GBV must be stamped out at all cost.
